About Jhablu
What is Jhablu, exactly?
Jhablu is a parenting app for Indian families with kids aged 6–12. It uses AI to generate activities, stories, and printables personalised for your child — based on their age, interests, and the kind of moment you're in (calm evening, hyper afternoon, etc.). The mascot is a green Alexandrine parakeet called Jhablu, who's your child's gentle companion through the app.
Who is Jhablu for — me or my child?
Jhablu is designed for you, the parent, to use withyour child. You generate the activity, decide if it's right for your kid, and lead it together. Kids don't sign in or use the app directly — that's intentional. The screen stays in your hand; your child gets the activity.
How is this different from YouTube Kids or Khan Academy?
Jhablu gives you ideas for off-screen things to do with your kid— crafts, conversations, small games, stories to read aloud together. YouTube Kids is on-screen content for the child to consume; Khan Academy teaches academic concepts. Jhablu's job is the 20-minute "what do we do now?" moment between school and dinner.
AI and content
How does the AI work? Is it safe for kids?
When you tap "Activity for [child]", we send your child's profile (name, age, interests) and your chip selections (mood, energy, time) to OpenAI's API. The AI generates one activity tuned to that combination. We use safety prompts and filters to keep content age-appropriate. Still, no AI filter is perfect — please use your judgement before doing an activity. If something feels off, tap the feedback option and we'll improve.
Will the AI ever say something weird or wrong?
Occasionally yes. AI is creative but not authoritative — it can repeat itself, get a cultural detail slightly wrong, or suggest something that doesn't suit your kid. You stay in charge: skip activities you don't like, tap "Try another" for a fresh one, and tell us when something is off.
Can my child use Jhablu offline?
The built-in stories, careers, and printable templates work offline. AI-generated activities and stories need an internet connection to be created. Once generated and saved to the scrapbook, they stay accessible offline.
Plans and billing
What's the difference between Free, Star, and Family?
Free (₹0/mo): 1 child profile, 3 AI activities / stories / printables per week, plus all built-in content. Good for trying Jhablu out.
Star ★ (₹499/mo): 1 child profile, unlimited AI generation, read-aloud on stories, Sunday WhatsApp recap. Best for one-child families.
Family ⌂ (₹799/mo): up to 3 child profiles, all Star features for every child, multi-child scrapbook. Co-parent access and cross-device sync are on the roadmap. Best for 2-3 child families.
Can I have one child on Star and another on Free?
No — plans cover the whole account, not individual children. If you have two or three kids you want fully on Jhablu, the Family plan (₹799/mo) is built for that and is cheaper than buying multiple Stars.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from Settings → Your plan. You'll stay on the paid plan until the end of the period you've paid for, then drop to Free. Your scrapbook, profile, and saved activities stay yours — they're stored locally and don't disappear with the subscription.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — Star and Family both come with a 30-day free trial. You won't be charged during the trial. If you don't cancel before it ends, your card or UPI mandate is charged for the cycle you picked.
How do payments work?
Payments are processed via Razorpay (UPI, cards, netbanking). Subscriptions renew automatically on the day of the cycle you signed up. You can cancel renewal any time from Settings → Your plan.
Do you offer refunds?
Full refund within 7 days of your first paid charge if Jhablu doesn't fit your family — email contact@frolicbit.com and we'll process it. After 7 days, refunds are case-by-case for billing errors.
Privacy and data
Where is my child's data stored?
Almost everything — profile, scrapbook, photos, preferences — is stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers without you asking. When you generate an AI activity, only the profile fields needed for that generation are sent to OpenAI. Read the full privacy policy for specifics.
Why does Jhablu ask for my mobile number?
To send the OTP at sign-in (so your account is secured to your phone) and — if you opt in — to send the optional Sunday WhatsApp recap. We never use it for SMS marketing and never share it.
Can I delete all my data?
Yes. Go to Settings → Sign out — your saved profile, child details, scrapbook, and photos are wiped from this device. Since nothing is on our servers, there's nothing left to delete.
Using Jhablu day-to-day
What if I have more than one child?
On the Family plan, you can add up to 3 child profiles. From Settings → Your children, tap "Add another child", enter their name + age, and switch between them whenever you like. Each child gets their own activities, stories, and scrapbook.
Can my partner share the account?
Co-parent access (where two adults share one account, each with their own sign-in) is coming to the Family plan as a future update. For now, you and your partner can sign in on separate devices using the same phone number / OTP, but data won't sync across devices until we ship that feature.
What languages are supported?
At launch, Jhablu generates content in English with some Indian cultural flavour. Hindi and Marathi support — including audio for shlokas and read-aloud — is coming in a future update.
I changed my mobile number — what do I do?
Today, sign out on the old device, then sign in on the new one with your new number. This creates a fresh profile (your old data stays on the old device). When cross-device sync lands later this year, switching numbers will be handled within the app.
Where do I get help?
